As we wrap up another year, a lot of things in the world still feel the same. And while I sure hope this year was a little better for you than last, what I’m reminded of is to not wait for some outside event or circumstance to rescue us. Our days, months, and years can be as amazing as we want them to be — regardless of what’s happening.
It’s not always easy, but I have no choice but to be hopeful and optimistic about the future. Really, what is the alternative? While it’s valid to feel every type of emotion (and I certainly do), it doesn’t serve us to spend too much time focused on what’s wrong. It’s not the best way to create the world you want.
What I have become more of a believer in is the power we all possess to speak and will things into existence. We owe everything to our imaginations and it’s often only when we act as if something has already come true, that it actually does. That may sound a little wacky to all the realists out there, but give it a shot.
If there’s something out there you want to do, create, achieve, or be a part of — know that it’s only really you that’s preventing that from happening. We may not all have equal terrains on our paths, but again, what good does it do to dwell on that? Contrary to traditional advice, you don’t need to worry about how you will accomplish your goals. In fact, if you already know how to do something, you might consider choosing something more aspirational. It’s time to see yourself having already achieved what you want and imagine what that feels like. It’s only then that the how begins to reveal itself in our focus, action, and habits.
I love this creative audience and believe that each and every one of you are capable of anything. Over the years, we’ve seen it happen over and over. So please, don’t stress. Spend less time worrying about the outside world (which will always be chaotic) and more time on what you can control — helping others, building community, and doing rad things that even the child in you couldn’t have imagined.
Cheers to 2022,
Kiran
